Drawing Templates

Drawing Templates

(OP)

I have created a new D-Size Document Template for our company and need to create the other sizes we use. Some of the features I included were:

1. Layers for the different types of drawings that have different tolerances and notes.
2. Custom Properties for drawing titles, drawing number, etc.
3. Revision Table

Now I am looking to create the other sizes A, B, and C.

Is there an easy way to use the D-size template I already created to create the other sizes.  I tried changing the drawing size but I lose everything b/c the only thing i can select is the SW default templates.  Notes, tolerances, layers, borders, etc. all disappear.  I'd like to keep the layering style the same.

I also tried looking for a scale function to scale the borders down to the appropriate size but couldn't find anything.

Do I have to just bite the bullet and recreate everything from scratch for each drawing size?

Thanks.

RE: Drawing Templates

All of the blocks should be the same size (title & rev blocks, etc). Open the D size and "save as" C size, etc. Then re-position border (keep title block in same place)then move other blocks to new location. I hope I made sense.

RE: Drawing Templates

You need to setup a Template that has your D Size drawing Sheet Format in it. Then you will have your Tools\Options\Document Properties - Plus all the template settings you saved. So when you click file new (You have to be sure your using the "Advanced" new dialog box and not the "Novice") You will see your new template you just create in the dialog box. So when you pick it, you will see your D Sheet format plus you will get the Template data that you previously saved.

You take that template once opened and do a Save as Copy - Drawing Template.drwdot - Give it a new name like "Drawing C" and save it. open up your new template "Drawing C" and then you will only need to change the sheet size and move your template to fit within the sheet. Do a Save as Sheet Format and also do a Save as Drawing template - Repeat for each sheet.

See help for some clarification.
