Heavy Oil Pipe Sizing

Heavy Oil Pipe Sizing

Heavy Oil Pipe Sizing

(OP)
Are any rules of thimb for sizing pipework for  heavy oil applications.

I know that in general liquid flows pipes are usually sized to keep the flow velocity between 2 and 4 m/s. Does this still hold for high viscosity fluids (up to 8000 cP!)

Cheers,

Neil

RE: Heavy Oil Pipe Sizing

Well yes, there is a table of pipeline velocities that i last accessed today but which AOL is now denying exists!
The key link is this one:
http://www.euronet.nl/users/e_wesker/et.html
and a search among the links here should find it. (It may be that it is my machine that is suffering today.)
If i can get it back i will post it here for you.
