Getting online with SLC 5/05 using PIC driver

Getting online with SLC 5/05 using PIC driver

Getting online with SLC 5/05 using PIC driver

(OP)
I have a tool that we want to put on the plant network.  I look at the I/P address offline, it conforms to our spec so I believe it to be the correct I/P address for that processor.  I cannot ping it so I need to go online through the DF1 port, which is configured to communicate with a Panelview.  According to AB if I use the 1747-PIC driver I should be able to comm through the DF1 port.  I have set up RSLinx to run as a normal application.  Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Thanks.

RE: Getting online with SLC 5/05 using PIC driver

Hello;
You need to find out how the serial port is configured on the processor. Possible options and to cooresponding RsLinx drivers are:

DH485                       RS-232 DF1 Devices
DF1 Full Duplex             RS-232 DF1 devices
DF1 Half Duplex Slave       DF1 Polling Master
DF1 Half Duplex Master      Not possible
DF1 Radio Modem             RS-232 DF1 Devices?
Shutdown                    Not Possible

RE: Getting online with SLC 5/05 using PIC driver

Set up DF1 driver in Linx, then you will need a 9-pin to 9-pin serial lead (AB will sell you one 1747-CP3, but it's only as detailed below).

2-----3
3-----2
5-----5

Hope this helps.

Add to jamspop:
you may need to connect on both connectors

7 --- 8  and  1 --- 4 ---6 , too.

RE: Getting online with SLC 5/05 using PIC driver

If you are setting RSlinx to use the 1747-PIC driver then
under Channel configuration on the SLC5/05  the channel 0 - system setting must be set to DH485, baud rate will automatically be set to 19200 and set the appropriate node address. Under General the Channel 0 mode must be set to System, user driver is normally set to shutdown.
