Oil Filled Versus Air - Fractional Sub Motors

Oil Filled Versus Air - Fractional Sub Motors

(OP)
I've done a search on this forum and on Google.  It seems everyone has an opinion on air versus oil motors.  What is the straight scoop?  I can only imagine oil being good to moderate temps better than air, but other than that air seems better.  Any thoughts?

I agree with your assmption, but consider that probably the most important and critical phenomena for a submersible motor is the proper heat transfer of its  losses, otherway it will have a reduced life due to overtemperature. Apply the OEM recomendation.

RE: Oil Filled Versus Air - Fractional Sub Motors

Suggestion: Beside electrical parameters, mechanical parameters should also be scrutinized, e.g. vibrations, noise, physical volume, etc. The oil motor has marginal edges except possibly the weight.
