SW into ProE; same relative assy position
SW into ProE; same relative assy position
(OP)
When importing from SW Assy into ProE Assy, we want the parts to be in the same Assy body space.
Data is coming in Part CSys (0,0,0) TO Assy CSys (0,0,0).
How do you set up SW to export from Assy Default Csys?

All the parts of the imported assembly come in at 0,0,0. As in one glob mass. It just makes it really hard to disect and place parts. You can guess but it is sometimes pure guesses.
RE: SW into ProE; same relative assy position
At the SW end, have the sender save the assembly as a single part file. That way, all of the bodies are in one file with a single common CSYS. Then use that part file to create the export IGES/STEP/parasolid/etc.
p.s. For what it's worth, I just did a short experiment exporting/reimporting IGES, STEP, and ps assemblies in SW. No problems there. Assembly had multiple instances of components.
RE: SW into ProE; same relative assy position
I am forwarding the info on to SW side of equation.
RE: SW into ProE; same relative assy position
I chose both the part and assembly option: the part option came in as a glob, and the assembly option had the individual parts.
Solidworks 2001+ had a nice little Pro/E translator but that went away in 2003. On there website they listed that it would be available soon. for what it's worth. Best of luck
