Updating Assemblies

Updating Assemblies

(OP)
Hello

I am working with an assembly with many sub assemblies within.  I moved one of the sub assemblies to another folder and when I loaded the assembly it said the link to the sub assembly was not found.  I tried updating the links but it will not allow me to choose a new source file.  Is it possible to update the link without having to reposition the sub assembly?

Thanks!

RE: Updating Assemblies

What version of SE?  Are you using Insight or not?

If no, read the help about the link management file and the edit link dialogue box (also pull down menu).

For some pleasure reading, try FAQ731-376

RE: Updating Assemblies

Hi,

Open your assembly with the revision manager (go through Insight Connect if necessary).

Then, use <set action to replace> to repair the link by browsing to your subassembly file in its new location.

If it's used by a draft or other assembly file. Open the dft file instead and use <where used> to update the other top level files.

RE: Updating Assemblies

You can try with Revision Manager.

1. Open the main assembly with Revision Manager.
2. You'll notice a row which indicates [file not found]; this should be your missing sub-assembly.
3. Right click on the row and select 'Set action to Replace'.
4. Choose the assembly file and click Open in the dialog box.
5. Save the file.

Hope this helps.
