Distributed Masonry Load

Distributed Masonry Load

Distributed Masonry Load

(OP)
I am designing a Masonry structure w/ wood trusses.  My grade beams are rather large.  So I was wanting to reduce the load of my masonry blocks.  I know that you can reduce the distributed load of masonry, to a triangle, but not for sure what the parameters are for doing this design.  Is there any suggestions or the location in the code, because I'm rather unclear for this design.

RE: Distributed Masonry Load

DYork,

Try www.brickinfo.org.    They have several technical papers covering most every aspect of masonry design and construction related issues.

RE: Distributed Masonry Load

Go to "ncma.org".  On the left side of the home page is a box relating to accessing TEK notes.  Select your state, and it will give you a list of your state masonry suppliers.  Click on one with the "TEK Manual", and search for TEK note 17-1b.  I think this will give you the information you are looking for.
