EExd for TE/TT?

EExd for TE/TT?

EExd for TE/TT?

(OP)
My company specification require TE/TT designed for EExd.

Now we are replacing existing thermowells with new type. But we found the problem about connection. We cannot connect new thermowell to existing element due to no full thread of cover flange. Therefore we decide to install nipple and full coupling to cover flange, then connect existing element.

Since our specification required EExd for TT/TE, I don't sure that nipple and coupling must be EExd design or not.

Can anyone make me clear for EExd requirement of TT/TE?

Thank you very much,

Bob

RE: EExd for TE/TT?

I would say yes, you need EExd, coupling and nipple.
The best thing would be to directly take contact with your supplier, who maybe has a solution to upgrade your system.
At least, you have to contact him to know if the fact of adding elements to its equipment will not void the EEx certification
