PDMWorks-number of files/project

In the best practices it metions that you should not exceed "1000 or 2000" items per project or it will affect performance.  Has anyone exceeded this limit and seen a difference.  If you break the project into sub-projects will this make it better or no difference?  For example: you have project "A" with no items but two sub-projects "A1" and "A2".  "A1" has 1000 items and "A2" has 1000 items.  Does this mean that project "A" has 2000 items resulting in slow performance?  Can a PDMWorks pro explain how the number of items affects performance?

Thanks!

Glenn

RE: PDMWorks-number of files/project

As long as you asked about slow. This does not answer your question.
PDM/Works Getting Slow?
Is your PDM working directory filling up with drawings, models and assemblies?  The more drawings, models and assemblies you have in your working directory the slower PDM/Works becomes. I have tested this by having 1,873 files in my working directory.  A file that should open from the PDM within 2 seconds was taking as long as 7 minutes. Are your projects getting mixed up with other projects?  If you never delete your working directory, opening files from PDM will get slower and slower. I would suggest deleting your working directory every time you change projects.

Thanks.  I will add that to our "Best Practices".  I'm still hoping someone can answer my question on project size.
