Swing check valve, pressure seal bonnet failure

Swing check valve, pressure seal bonnet failure

Swing check valve, pressure seal bonnet failure

(OP)
Mere months following installation 6inch 900# CS BW sch120 leaked at its side flange.  Valve is in boiler feedwater service exiting heater @1500psig,600degF fluid conditions. Need to how failure can happen assuming valve was not damaged going in?  Any suggestions on this reknowned manufacturing job.

RE: Swing check valve, pressure seal bonnet failure

jerry, Check with your valve supplier. There's a lot of rebuilt crap coming in from overseas these days being sold as OEM. You may have gotten hold of one.

Hope this helps.

RE: Swing check valve, pressure seal bonnet failure

Jerry  ...Just to make sure I got the story right, this is a 6"-900# welded end valve?  ...SO, did any body check the bonnet bolts torque, before they commission this system? ...Or did they assume it was ok out of the box?   ...Mark

RE: Swing check valve, pressure seal bonnet failure

What sort of failure was it? Did a stud or bolt fail? Did the bonnet crack? Did a gasket blow out? Something else?

Fred
