Life Expectancy of Steel Casing Pipe

Life Expectancy of Steel Casing Pipe

Life Expectancy of Steel Casing Pipe

(OP)
Doing a jack and bore in Phoenix, Arizona.  City of Phoenix is concerned about the life expectancy of 48" Steel Casing Pipe.  The City is requesting a life expectancy of 75 years.  Field resistivity is 4711 (ohm/cm).  Will a 1/2" thick casing pipe be thick enough?

RE: Life Expectancy of Steel Casing Pipe

I found this reference that may help you.  Note caveat regarding unreviewed paper.

I hope this helps.

RE: Life Expectancy of Steel Casing Pipe

Something to investigate is cathodic protection.  It will require maintenance (replacement of the anodes) over time; but, saves the casing.
