Help me find EDO or FPM DRAM

Help me find EDO or FPM DRAM

Help me find EDO or FPM DRAM

(OP)
Hello all,

I am having trouble finding a supplier of 5V EDO or FPM DRAM for a project that was designed a few years ago.  It seems nearly impossible to find a steady supply of these parts.  One such part is from ISSI # IS41C8200.  There is not much chance of a redesign and we cannot support other types of DRAM.  The project requires too much memory (4M Bytes) to be practical using SRAM.  If anyone knows a good source or manufacturer, please let me know.  I have searched almost every major manufacturer, and most either don't make the parts anymore, or their distributors don't seem to carry them.

Thanks for your help!

RE: Help me find EDO or FPM DRAM

Quadrant makes some models, Okisemi seems to make some models too.
Your problem may be to find companies which will sell them in low volumes.
One thing that many people do is that they purchase SIMMs and get the parts ripped off. It can be an avenue if your volumes are low.
Good luck!

Thanks for the response, felixc.  I checked out quadrant.  I didn't see quite what I was looking for.  The part I'm looking for is the 5-volt 2Mx8 type.  I have checked out Oki before also... most of their offerings are 3V.  You might be right about the SIMMs... but hopefully there is another solotion out there.  :)

RE: Help me find EDO or FPM DRAM

You're out of luck for the model you need too.  Most of the EDOs still available are x4 or x16 type, those found on SIMM modules.
Have you checked Rochester Electronics?  They're specialised in buying EOLed products and keeping stocks as long as they can.
