PMDC Motor

Can anyone please give me some pointers or links to informative sites on determining/designing the specifications (ie. # of poles, strenth/type of magnet, size/type of wires , etc) for a small brush-type PMDC motor.  The motor is supposed to be used as an Anti-Lock brake motor.  I figure that a 1/4 horsepower will be sufficient power along with a 12V source (car battery).  Any help will be much appreciated.

RE: PMDC Motor

Isn't that kind of dangerous?

One could easily imagine getting into a collision and the anti-lock being stuck on, so this motor is cranking and sparking while the leaking gas tank dumps gas and fumes...

Well, the motor will be entirely enclosed so there wouldn't be any flying sparks outside the casing.  It's not powerful enough (produce enough heat) to need active cooling.
