ref or help to calculate evap rates of water from still tank
ref or help to calculate evap rates of water from still tank
(OP)
Hello,
I am looking for a method (or reference with a method) to estimate the evaporation rate (or more precisely the energy loss due to evaporation) from a basically still (it has low but known average surface velocity) tank with 70C water. The tank is located in an industrial plant. The convection coefficeint at the waters surface is known. Plant air temp is known as is the relative humidity of the air.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Bill

RE: ref or help to calculate evap rates of water from still tank
Water Evaporated (kg/h) = ((3.83465×D^2)×(1+0.33×WV)x 2.39×2.865E¯10×((VTEF)^4.27));
where:
D-thickener diameter (m)
WV - wind velocity (miles/h)
VTEF - input stream temperature (oF)
Not sure about applicability to your duty.
Cheers
