looking to Identify aluminum alloy

looking to Identify aluminum alloy

(OP)
I need an aluminum tube with very good reflective properties on the inside. It needs to have a mirror-like finish, but can not have a dark hue to it. The ideal that I have found has a misty type of finish to it. I have no alloy numbers, but I have had hit and miss results with the 3003 and 6061 alloys.
there are usually some suffix after these but I cannot relate them to anything in particular. Any attempts to pollish have resulted in a dark hue and this is an undesirable situation

RE: looking to Identify aluminum alloy

Here is a polish, Semichrome,  that works very well on Aluminum.

Come back with a little more information as to the enviroment the tubing will see.  Normally 3003 would work fine and can be purchased with a relative smooth inside surface.   Any of the 6061 alloys will work but require more effort to polish.  The best alloy would be 1100-0 for polishing.
If weight isn’t a problem you can get internally  polished Stainless Steel pipe and tube.

RE: looking to Identify aluminum alloy

For the aluminum alloys mentioned by unclesyd, and your intended service of the aluminum tube you might want to consider chrome plating the tube bore. I believe the ID surface would require a flash plate of nickel followed by a chrome plate that would provide a mirror finish.

RE: looking to Identify aluminum alloy

id try to get a tube with high copper content 7xxx series that might give you reflectiveness you need.
