E-drawings into PowerPoint

E-drawings into PowerPoint

(OP)
I'm trying to figure out how to open an E-drawing in Powerpoint.  I would like to open the E-drawing, press play and have the part rotate thru the views in my presentation.  I'm inserting the E-drawing on a slide as an object but nothing happens when I get to the slide.  Any suggestions?  Thanks,

RE: E-drawings into PowerPoint

I want to say I did this back in SW01+, but I can't get it to work now in SW03.  I thought it was Insert>Object>From File, but I guess not.  I'll try some more.

RE: E-drawings into PowerPoint

I use CamStudio. Play the animation and record it. Insert into any program.

RE: E-drawings into PowerPoint

I just made a test part.  Then I made an eDrawing executable and an eDrawing html.  I started an PowerPoint file and did an insert object - from file - browsed  and inserted that way.  You get an icon in both cases.  In both cases when you double click the icon in the PP slide, you open the edrawing.  If you want a picture in the PP slide to start with I would also save your eDrawing as a jpeg and insert that too, with the icon off in the corner or similar.  Seemed to work just fine for me.

I know one of our customers does it with eDrawing I send them and I imagine that is how they do it too.

I guess you could use a hyperlink instead of an embedded object, but them the PP would not really be stand-alone as with any linked files.
