some aluminium supplier, for using DC-cast billets in forging industry, use from an preliminary extrusion operation. Why?

RE: extrusion operation necessity

The preliminary extrusion operation refines the grain size (makes it smaller) and removes many of the other defects inherent in cast structures (variable grain size & orientation, porosity, etc.).  Smaller, more homogeneous grains result in higher formability and reduced cracking during forming.
