Construction lingo

Construction lingo

Construction lingo

(OP)
Had a paving contractor over the house a few months ago for a quote on a driveway. Noticed he had a couple of odd words in his vocabulary. Considering the source, I forgave him and 'moved on' as they say. So yesterday, I'm listening to a 'fix-it' show on local radio, and the guest was none other than the paving conntractor. At least his choice of vocabulary was consistent.

Just had to chuckle as he shared the words "Escavator" and "Corrosious" with a quarter-million people.

RE: Construction lingo

I guess Andy Worhol was right and your contractor just got his 15 minutes of fame. Is an escavator a cross between an escalator and an elevator?

RE: Construction lingo

"Had a paving contractor over the house..."

"Is an escavator a cross between an escalator and an elevator?"

Well, that would explain how he got over the house, wouldn't it?

RE: Construction lingo

Shouldn't that be "Had a paving contractor over to the house...?" "Had Santa over the house" is fine because you can visualise him heded for the chimney but a paving contractor?

Would that Andy Warhol were right and it was only 15mins but in these days of "Reality TV" (a euphemism for "cheap"), just about everybody gets weeks and weeks of it.
