File Transfer C: to Network

File Transfer C: to Network

File Transfer C: to Network

(OP)
I might have to work at the remote location on my computer building assemblies on my hard drive.
I will be using copies of parts that are on my company's local network which I will have no access for.
When my assy is complete I need to send it electronically with all the components including subassemblies or send a CD so eveything can be put on the local network.
Files have different locations on the network.
How do I do it the easiest way?
I thought someone would copy all files including main assy to appropriate locations but then when he opens an assy SW will ask for the file locations ( they will not be on C: ( hard drive ) anymore and every single component would have to be searched at proper location on local network.
Could anybody give me some hints how can it be done the easiest way.
I believe it can be done, they worked on International Space Stations with hundred different locations and it worked, didn't it?

RE: File Transfer C: to Network

The method SW uses to search for components is detailed in the help.  I have also detailed it in another thread on this forum.

If you have all of the files in a single directory, SW will find them.  Otherwise, if you have parallel structures, SW will find them.  You can also use search directories.

RE: File Transfer C: to Network

There is a KBA (Knowledge Base Article) at the SW website that discusses this in pretty good detail. The KBA subject line is "Reference Document Search Routine" The document explains how SW will look to find the referenced Documents.

RE: File Transfer C: to Network

Have your company set aside a computer which allows you remote access. Then you should be able to operate that computer via your remote keyboard & monitor and access the local network as if working locally.

Thank you all.
It is easier than I thought.
SW has an option to open and save files from the web site so you get get the access to the network ( I did not know it though )
