Performanca analysis
Performanca analysis
(OP)
Dear forum members,
Is there a method to evaluate the performance
of an existing building made of mainly shear walls
for a possible future earthquake? The structure is used for sports events and has spans of 36x37 meters.
I know we could use push over analysis for regular moment resisiting frames, but any method or modeling rules for shear wall buildings?
Please help me.
Best wishes..
Kamil

RE: Performanca analysis
1- collecting all available design drawing & as build drawings anlong with contractor reports and material testing what ever available
2- Performing some on-site tests (Schmidt Hammer- Concrete core testing- Ultra sonic ....) in order to estimate material properties, when not possible to estimate steel properties we assume minimum steel.
3- Performing the necessary geological and geotechnical survay of the base strata.
3- Remodeling the structure using one of available programs and checking against the applicable codes of practice.
Hopefully i've inlighted the issue...
When I'll have more details I'll do my best to help u.

Thanks so much for your kind help but
I was looking for more specific and
detailed info about the modeling issues
of shear wall type buildings.
I ll also let you know of if I somehow
learn the subject more in depth.
Take care
