"Model could not be properly sectioned..."

"Model could not be properly sectioned..."

(OP)
I am trying to cut a section through a large model.  SolidWorks is giving me the error message "The model could not be properly sectioned by the section line.  Please check that the section line cuts through the model".  My section view consists of the external parts I drew the section line through.  None of the internal stuff is shown.

My assembly contains 1182 components.  I have to 2GB RAM on my computer.  According to Task Manager, I have almost 800MB remaining.

I am pretty confident that I am cutting through the whole model.

    Has anyone seen this before?

RE: "Model could not be properly sectioned..."

This usually means a face on the model is causing problems.  If you have imported geometry, use the diagnosis tools to see if faces need repairing.

Due to illness, the part of The Tick will be played by... The Tick.

RE: "Model could not be properly sectioned..."

I have had a similar message & found that by re-positioning the section line, slightly offset (.001") from its original position allowed the section to be made.
