Knowledge of Helmholtz Resonators

(OP)
I am interested in designing helmholtz resonators to amplify the pressure generated in the intake and exhaust systems of 4 cycle internal combustion engines.  Does anyone know of a good contact to discuss this subject?

RE: Knowledge of Helmholtz Resonators

Hello gtp,

A helmholtz resonator is simply a fluidic spring/mass system, where a column of fluid in a neck is made to interact with a closed cavity.  The compliance of the cavity volume interacts with the inertance of the slug of fluid in the neck.

The calculation details involve the bulk modulus of the fluid, mass density, and speed of sound.
