A-B pass word question
A-B pass word question
(OP)
If I run across an SLC 5/04 and the program is password protected, can I remove the battery (wich
hopefully cause the cpu to loose its program), and
then re-install the battery.
After performing the above action, will I be able to gain access to the SLC afterwards.
Thanks for your help,
Afterhrs

RE: A-B pass word question
Remove the battery AND an eventual EPROM.
Locate the green capacitor next to the battery holder.
Short the green capacitor for AT LEAST ONE MINUTE.
Reinsert the battery BUT NOT THE EPROM.
Power up the CPU, and it has been reset to factory defaults.
RE: A-B pass word question
For SLC the password is in address B0
For PLC the password is in address C830

I would like to thank all that replied! I now have a piece of mind if we have an unhappy individual leave the company.
Very best regards,

RE: A-B pass word question
Create a new logix file *.rss and set a master password
like 99999, it has to be numeric entry. Save
the file, close it and then open it. when you open it it should prompt you for the password. put in 99999 and then it should open. This is just to check the password capability. Then close the file and open it in Wordpad and search for 99999 it is usually located down about 90% of the page and to the right about 70%. This is where the password is stored. Now open your file with the unkown password in Wordpad and look in the same area as the test file. you should find your password.

WARNING: if you lift the jumper too far, you will need to be a brain surgeon to get the little bugger back on the pins.
