Gravity Ventilation

Gravity Ventilation

Gravity Ventilation

(OP)
Does anyone know of a good design reference for natural (gravity) ventilation.  This is typically used on large industrial buildings (foundries, etc.), and consists of continuous weatherproof ridge venting and inlet air louvers set low in the sidewalls of the building.

RE: Gravity Ventilation

Go to ASHRAE  Handbook 1999 Applications, Chapter 28 "ventilation of the Industrial Environment. Good Luck

RE: Gravity Ventilation

ASHRAE has a white paper "Design Approaches to Industrial Ventilation" which may help

RE: Gravity Ventilation

Robertson make ridge-line ventilation outlets which have specially-shaped louvers to take advantage of wind velocity to produce a pressure drop and therefore suck air up through the building. I have installed some of these on a power station and they were very effective.

RE: Gravity Ventilation

Look up the www.Air-Therm.com site
they make a significantly improved
ventilator to the Robertson design
and are available to size up any
industrial ventialtion requirements
