Stringing Along

Stringing Along

Stringing Along

(OP)
Last night, I got on-line and was perusing through the forums, catching up on the latest posts when my wife came into the office and asked, “Are you stringing?”

I thought What did I forget?  Am I supposed to be stringing popcorn, or light bulbs, or what?”   I respond “Stringing what?” to which she answers, “You know, those on-line discussions.”  I realized that “thread” had become “string”, and therefore yes, I was “stringing.”

RE: Stringing Along

That's ok, whenever my wife sees me on the computer, she asks, "What are you emailing?" ...regardless of what program I have running on screen.

RE: Stringing Along

I guess if you are looking at only your threads, you are 'flossing'? (just a thought)

RE: Stringing Along

My wife just watched Tom Hanks in "You've got mail" and is convinced you guys are not all engineers, or all guys either.

I think some wives are beginning to rethink that old garden shed scenario but with a padlock and no phone. Wht do you bet she gets me a train set this Xmass?

RE: Stringing Along

My wife is much more astute.  She actually asks me questions pertinent to what I might be doing on the computer (I don't really sit on it by-the-way).  But then she also is the one who has to remind ME to check the oil in the vehicles and "did you check the fuses?" after I have spent considerable time with complex diagnostic techniques to solve an auto electric issue (car issues are much easier to deal with than car problems -- beieve me).  Once you learn the art of using this popular word, you can bamboozle just about anyone into believing that problems just do not exist in your world.  Sorry wrong thread.  Just needed to vent a wee bit.  Whew -- thanks.
