Exploded view of subassemblies

Exploded view of subassemblies

Exploded view of subassemblies

(OP)
I am making an assembly with multiple sub-assemblies.
I would like to show the exploded views of every component within the assembly. Is it even possible?

I tried to create the exploded view, but SW doesn't let me select individual part for explode steps, it only let me select "subassembly" as a whole.

Thanks-

RE: Exploded view of subassemblies

What version are you running? In SW04, after you "start the exploded view", click on the "steps" icon and click on the box next to "component part only"

RE: Exploded view of subassemblies

ctopher is correct. SW has the Complete sub-assembly selected as the default. You have to select the Component part only radio button to move individual pieces of a sub-assy.

Also when doing this type of "Explosion" I usually find it best to explode/move the whole sub-assemblies apart first & then explode/move the parts within each sub-assy.
It makes the explosion much easier to understand, especially if animating it.
