welds Distortion

(OP)
During welding of process piping butt joints and branch joints in our refinery, distortion of piping is encountered at welding locations. For example at branch weld locations, the pipe goes inwards and forms a slight arc. What is the permissible distortion as per B 31.3?

Shall be obliged to get a reply

RE: welds Distortion

sk,

Is this "thin walled" stainless steel piping ?

Schedule 5S and 10S piping is famous for weld distorion at branch connections.

As I recall, there are companies that make reinforced branch connections just for 5S and 10S pipe (WFI International ?)
