Natural gas piping inside an office building

Natural gas piping inside an office building

Hi all,

I'm looking a an option of installing a natural gas fired engine generator on the roof of a building.  The natural gas would have to be piped from the Gas Company's meter/regulating station (at grade) up to the roof (15 floors up).   I am concerned about running a gas pipeline in an existing pipe chase that also has steam, hot water and electric lines.  What is the typical approach in this instant - do you normally try to find a special dedicated pipe chase for natural gas?   Note: It cannot be run up the outside of the building.   Thanks.

RE: Natural gas piping inside an office building

Typically they are run in the same pipe chase. I however am concerned with havingthe electric lines so close to the gas line.

Look to the NFPA natural gas specification. It has informatonon the design and installa tion of gas lines in buildings.
