On a supercritical boiler level of water in the separator is measured by a differential pressure transmitter and compensated by densities of steam and water at subcritical conditions. When the conditions become supercritical what densities do you use and how? The normal level compensation calculation has a denominator of (density of water - density of steam)and since at supercritical conditions there is no destinct water and steam properties, the denominator would be zero. Help!

Did I miss something or are you trying to measure level in a drum containing water at supercritical conditions? As you more or less indicate yourself, at supercritical conditions there is no level, the drum will be filled with supercritical fluid (= dense phase).

Sense the weight with a strain gauge.
