SIzing Domestic Hot Water Heaters for Hospitals

(OP)
Looking for information on sizing of domestic hot water heaters for different types of hospital occupancies,i.e. occupational therapy,recovery wards, etc.
Could you please direct me to where I can obtain information?

RE: SIzing Domestic Hot Water Heaters for Hospitals

gun,

I do not think that this is the Forum for you....

This particular forum deals with the subtle design issues of heat exchangers, boilers, burners etc

Your question should be answered in some type of achetectural forum..

My opinion only....

Try the American Society of Plumbing Engineers.  They have a number of publications on their web site which should help you.

RE: SIzing Domestic Hot Water Heaters for Hospitals

- ensure that heat source and pipework has
capacity to heat water to 70 deg C for
legionella prevention;
- read legionella precautions in your country;
- your hospital authority should have capacity guide;
- also check CIBSE guide;

cheers,

RE: SIzing Domestic Hot Water Heaters for Hospitals

From "ASPE Data Book Vol.4 service hot water systems" ,you can find hot water demand per fixtures for hospitals.Multiplying fixtures quantity by demand, find the total demand,multiply it by demand factor (0,25) then multiply by storage factor (0,60) to find storage capacity.

HOT WATER DEMAND FOR HOSPITALS LT/FIXTURE AT 60°C
FIXTURE               DEMAND (lt.)
Basin (private)       7,6
Basin (public)        23
Bathtubs (cont.flow)  625
Sinks                 76
Showers               284

Demand factor         0,25
Storage factor        0,60

Ercan
