Need reference for Chinese & Japanese material properties

Need reference for Chinese & Japanese material properties

Need reference for Chinese & Japanese material properties

(OP)
Hi all,

I am looking for references where I can find Chinese and Japanese equivalent metal for any US metal specification. I am interested in references which provide me chemical composition as well as their mechanical & electrical properties of Asian specifications.

I desperately need it and really need help.

Thank you.

RE: Need reference for Chinese & Japanese material properties

The following books are the best sources for cross-referencing worldwide alloys:

Worldwide Guide to Equivalent Irons and Steels, 4th Edition
http://www.asminternational.org/Template.cfm?Section=BrowsebyTopic&template=Ecommerce/ProductDisplay.cfm&ProductID=11476

Worldwide Guide to Equivalent Nonferrous Alloys, 4th Edition
http://www.asminternational.org/Template.cfm?Section=BrowsebyTopic&template=Ecommerce/ProductDisplay.cfm&ProductID=11845

Stahlschlüssel (Key to Steel), 19th Edition

RE: Need reference for Chinese & Japanese material properties

Why not put those references in a FAQ?

Please see FAQ731-376 for great suggestions on how to make the best use of Eng-Tips Fora.  See FAQ158-922 for recommendations regarding the question, "How Do You Evaluate Fill Settlement Beneath Structures?"

RE: Need reference for Chinese & Japanese material properties

Because I have been exceedingly lazy... it would obviously be a good idea, as this question comes up at least once or twice a month, if not more.

Hi TVP,

I actually bought Worldwide Guide to Equivalent Irons and Steels, 4th Edition and Worldwide Guide to Equivalent Nonferrous Alloys, 4th Edition, but disappointed. I could find, probably, only 50% of information that I am looking for. In many cases, the books don’t provide mechanical properties or you don’t find the material that you are looking for. Like HPb60-2, this is a Chinese equivalent of 360 brass, but I can’t find any information on this material.

Anyway, thanks for your help. At least I can have 50% of information, better than nothing!!

RE: Need reference for Chinese & Japanese material properties

unp1,

I certainly understand your frustration.  Non-ferrous alloys can be extremely difficult to cross-reference, especially from China.  You may want to consider purchasing some of the relevant Chinese standards so that you can perform your own cross-referencing.  Use the following link for more information:
