Is 'nother' a word???

Is 'nother' a word???

Is 'nother' a word???

(OP)
Here's one that'll bug you if you haven't already noticed it.

At least here in the colonies, we seem to have invented a new word. The word is 'nother.' For example, "That's a whole nother set of circumstances."

Listen, you'll hear it all the time. I discovered that I used to say it all the time.

Of course, maybe it's a localized thing that I hear here on the Left Coast but I'm pretty sure I hear it on NPR and other national broadcasts.

RE: Is 'nother' a word???

yeah, it's pretty common...  "another" gets split to surround the word "whole."  (or an "n" gets added to other)

RE: Is 'nother' a word???

That useage is alive and well here in Texas, y'all.

RE: Is 'nother' a word???

Us Yanks from New Yawk say "anuduh". As in "Yo, bahtendah, gimme anuduh beah ovah heah".

RE: Is 'nother' a word???

not popular this way, we rather stick to "another" though I have heard a couple of times.
