"Idiots" guide to HVAC

(OP)
I have started a new Job part of  which involves upgrading a HVAC system, I have never been involved in HVAC systems before and  I need to find an "idiots" guide to HAVC systems to get me up to speed, dose anyone know of a good website or could advise on a good book?

I am particularly in need of information to do with tying it into a fire and gas system

There are a ton of links out there. A google search will yield more. Best of luck.
