I want to specify english coordinates through the keyboard (did it long time ago but forgot how)

example: line from 3 1/8 to 6 3/16

What is the separator between the the whole number and the fraction?

RE: coordinate entry

3-1/16 3'-8-3/16" etc...

Thanks, the first time I tried with the - separator it didn't work out, but after messing around in the units and options I succeeded. Still don't know how or why.
