Chemical resistance of materials
Chemical resistance of materials
(OP)
I am looking for a web site or referance that will list the chemical compatability of materials (metals, elastomers, plastics ...). My current application is dealing with salt soluctions. Some of the salts are ranging from: Magnesium perchlorates, Amomonium thiocyanate, Lithium chloride, Lithium iodide for ranges of 1-20%. The solvents are ranging from Formic acid/Water chloride, acetone/water, Isopropyl/Isobutyl/ Methyl/ n-butly alcohols, Methylene chloride/ Dimethyl sulphoxide, Toluene, Acetone, Formamide, Benzene and a partridge in a pear tree. I have looked on some manufacture web site, to find descrepancies for the same material or the solution is not listed.

If you would like to get a little deeper in to the science of material selection I would suggest you look at the MEI courses at
