Scanner to 3D model

(OP)
Hi, i am working in automotive stuff, I wanted to know if anybody can tell me how to convert the ascii data file (x,y,z) coodrinates to 3 D Model, IGES, CATIA, ...

RE: Scanner to 3D model

sorry, i wanted to clarify that the 3D data i got from the scanner device .
Many Thanks

RE: Scanner to 3D model

Suggest processing the data through a system that has cloud scan capabilities ie. Imageware, ICEM Surf, Alias Studiotools, etc. and exporting the data as IGES.

If the cloud scan is a large data set then sampling or sectioning the cloud will reduce the number of points and make it easier for ProE.

If you have a choice on the IGES export specify Points as 106 copious, not 116.

RE: Scanner to 3D model

That's the easy way to do it, but the disadvantage is that you're stuck with that shape. The hard, but flexible way is to create datum points, datum curves, and surfaces with a close aproximation, and...lots of work, but you'll be able to change it later if necessary. Either one works depending of the case and the design intent.

Look at the Raindrop software by GeoMagic.
