Minimum Space between Control and Power Cables
Minimum Space between Control and Power Cables
(OP)
How to find a Table showing Minimum Distance between Power and Control Cables in the Cable Track.
I am short in space and I have to install 24V DC Control Cable in Industrial Area in the same Cable Track with Power Cables 600 V,what is not acceptable to me.
Other Engineers are suggesting to provide barrier, but barrier is to separate Power Cables with different voltage levels, not to separate Control and Power Cables.
I would like to know minimum space between Control Cable 24 VDC and Power Cables 600V.
Thanks.

RE: Minimum Space between Control and Power Cables
IEEE Std 384-1981 IEEE Standard Criteria for Independence of Class 1E Equipment and Circuits
Fig. 7 shows 1 inch separation in horizontal and 1 inch separation in vertical directions for the enclosed raceway separation. It also gives examples of solid separation barriers.
RE: Minimum Space between Control and Power Cables
If “Cable Track” is the same thing as cable tray, in ANSI regions there is applicable information in 2002 NEC Article 392.

But you may save the client some money on first cost by putting power and control cables together in the same raceway.
