UNIX VBScript interoperability

UNIX VBScript interoperability

Any advice out there, please?

I've recently been handed a bit of a problem: my company uses both WindowsNT and Unix based servers / workstations and wants certain scripts to be capable of running on either with a minimum of modifications.  Historically, our scripts have been written for Unix or WindowsNT only as the two types of workstation were used for diferent purposes.  The new software package however has both Unix and WindowsNT versions, and will be required to run on either system.  The Windows version has been specifically designed to interface with VBScript.  My problem is that the package needs to also interface with several existing Unix-based applications, which we script in-house.

   I've three questions:

1. Can anyone recommend a reference book / web-site / etc.  that deals with interoperability issues between Unix and VBScript?

2. If writing a script with conversion in mind, is it better to base the script in VBScript or Unix?

3.  Are there any commercial Unix / VBScript conversion packages on the market to simplify the process and / or help debug the results?

I'd be grateful for any advice,
Rikman
