Elevator Machine Room Ventilation

Elevator Machine Room Ventilation

Elevator Machine Room Ventilation

(OP)
Generally, what is the typical way to ventilate an elevator machine room in an industrial facility ?

thanks in advance

RE: Elevator Machine Room Ventilation

Elevator room may have hi usage so most of the time we would provide air conditioning so just ventilation may not be adaquite. If only ventilation is needed then a good rule of thumb is 10 AC/hr.

RE: Elevator Machine Room Ventilation

If you know the manufacturer of the elevator, you can contact their technical sales rep and request equipment room heat gain information.

RE: Elevator Machine Room Ventilation

As I recall you should be able to get that info from the manfg of the equipment

RE: Elevator Machine Room Ventilation

Duct it to the hoistway, or have a fire dampered opening between the machine room and the hoistway.

RE: Elevator Machine Room Ventilation

New elevators because they use microprocessor controls have both temperature and humidity requirements. Thus we use air cooled ceiling hung computer room type AC units (with humidification & reheat o/& humidified ventilation air from a main AHU) that would run all the time. Get requirements from elevator manufacturer. Also get requirement on elevator shaft smoke venting.
