(OP)
Does anyone have experience of problems with the former Unitrode part UC3625Q Brushless motor drive IC or can then shed any light on the start up circuit other than that in the standard data sheet

RE: Motor start problems

The Unitrode UC3625 brushless DC motor controller intends for trapezoidal (6-step) commutation. For correct start up and operation, connection of Phases and Hall sensor (H1..3 for UC3625) must be in phase! If you don't know correct phasing, simple check 6 possible phases connection. One of them only give you needed motor moment.

good luck,
Leonid
