Solution annealed

Solution annealed

(OP)
Dear all,
We have bought plate material to fabricate tank with carbamate solution service.
Plate material is SA-240 Typ 304. Is it mandatory for mill supplier to do solution annealed ?
As far as I know this requirement is clearly stated in ASTM and I do not see this test being done in mill certificate.
Looking forward for this information.

RE: Solution annealed

roniprabowo;
The SA 240 material specification requires material to meet the SA 480 specification, as well. In the ASME SA 480 specification, the austenitic grades are to be supplied in the solution anealed condition. Check to make sure you have the correct mill test report for your heat or lot number. If you do, and the heat treatment is not listed, I would contact the supplier and have them send this information to you, you should have this information as part of your documentation package.
