Rock Saws , tooth patterns

Rock Saws , tooth patterns

(OP)
hello people.

i am after opinions on tooth type , patterns and spacing for rock saws , cutting at around a 50-60 mm wide cut .

Blade diameter is 2000 mm - 2600 mm , driven at 60 - 120 rpm
We are currently using tungsten carbide conical points in adaptors.

We generally cut sandstone for tunnel trim edgework , which has a hardness averaging 15-30 Mpa , and up to 50 Mpa on rare occasions.

Anybody got views on wet /dry cuts , and tooth layout/spacing please ? , we have been using  3 point and 5 point tooth patterns (radial spread over about a 30 degree angle each side of the blade center)

Some of this work will chop out points in 1 - 2 days , and adaptors in a couple of weeks , we want to get more life out of tool and still have a fast cut.

RE: Rock Saws , tooth patterns

Are you using water while cutting? This may prolong tooth life. Also check with the tooth manufacturers. They may have aharder tooth that won't break the bank.
