covert solidworks assembly to solid edge

(OP)
Hello ,

How can i convert a solidworks(2003) assembly to a solid edge format.
Is it possible to read solidworks files with solid edge, or do i convert the assembly to a step format ?

thanks a lot.

RE: covert solidworks assembly to solid edge

We have a lot of Solidworks contractors that work from home and supply us with data in step format.
We can open this format straight into Edge and it converts to become an assembly / part etc.
The mass and name information however, does not always come out of the translation :(

Hope this helps :s

thanks for the reply,

In solidworks i can open a solid edge assembly with extension : *.asm

Does solid edge support also a *.slasm extension ?

RE: covert solidworks assembly to solid edge

You need to find out what Solid Edge supports before you start trying to save your SW file as a SE file. I'm sure that SE will probably support Parasolid, but I'm not totally sure about it.
