(OP)
Hello All.

Is there a practise or has there ever been a practise of filling the tyres of earth moving trucks, or others, with water?

I've heard this was done on a large hydo scheme in Australia in the 50s.

Apparently someone invented a valve that allowed almost complete removal of air from the tyre, which was necessary. I'm trying to find out details of that valve and its inventor.

J.

RE: water filled tyres

Talk to farmers, talk to a tractor supplier.  It's a substitute for wheel weights.

RE: water filled tyres

I would try talking to the Technical Service Department of some of the tire manufacturers.
