On-Line Spalling

(OP)
I have heard that it is dangerous to do online spalling of furnace tube for Delayed Coker Plant in the refinery.

The reason is that there is a common convection section in the Coking Heater.

When one flow pass is under online spalling, the other flow pass is still running at its normal operating condition.

If steam and air are injected at an inappropriate rate to the decoking pass, it may cause overfiring of the furnace tube in the convection zone.

I would like to know which refinery has such experience.
