AC TO DC CONVERSION

AC TO DC CONVERSION

AC TO DC CONVERSION

(OP)
IS IT POSSIBLE TO CONVERT AN AC MOTOR INTO A BRUSHLESS DC MOTOR?

RE: AC TO DC CONVERSION

Suggestion: It is possible but not practical because the magnetic circuits are designed for AC not DC.

RE: AC TO DC CONVERSION

It is possible especially if the AC base motor is a three phase squirrel cage or synchronous type.

The rotor has to be reconditioned to work with permanent magnets, with poles matching the stator winding.

An electronic commutator control device has to be added to the stator three phase circuit in such a way that specific windings in the stator are energized, based on the rotor position.

Sounds simple but a lot of experience building electric machines is required.

RE: AC TO DC CONVERSION

It is possible, but wouldnt be easy to do.

It may be cheaper to just buy a permanent magnet armature dc motor.

I wonder why you wish to do it ?

Best wishes
