problem installing Ideas9 on win xp pro

problem installing Ideas9 on win xp pro

Hello All
For some reason ideas doesn't start the server lmgrd.
Ideas starts by License File = "C:SDRC\I-DEAS9\ideas\mech\license.dat;" 'and' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
then the same thing for  C:\Documents  , but that can be fixed( read in another question on this forum) by changing the param file.
Then finaly is shut down with:
Detected loss of communication with I-DEAS license daemon.

after seeking in allot of files the next things came up.

flexlm error insufficient ports available to the orbix (common.cfg)?
lmgrd is not running :server node is down or not responding??
"telnet" port (23) on node <server name> does not respond??
Is something configured wrong.(server)?
Please help
thanks allot

RE: problem installing Ideas9 on win xp pro

You won't get MS9 Orbix running on XP so don't worry about the first line of the error. This won't stop I-DEAS running but will stop some of the translators working.

The telnet port 23 error is a bit odd, not seen that before with I-DEAS lincensing errors.

I'd suggest "back to basics".

Have you got flexlm running? and if so when you check the status of the I-DEAS License Sever is it "UP".

Just to clarify the port issue does the top line of the License file specify port 7610, hopefully it does. Does the top line of your License files also specify your machines' HostID (or ANY) and Host Name?

Once all this is correct we can then star to look at what the application may be doing wrong.

thanks allot RCDLtd,
After reading your story about don't worry about the first two errors, my attention was not focused on that and I came up with another approch.
I re-installed my ethernet card and now it runs fine.
Propably something wrong with the installation of that card.

Thanxs again, just needed a push in the right direction.

RE: problem installing Ideas9 on win xp pro

I got the same problem as "SWEEX" with I-Deas 10 running on Windows 2000 SP4.

Ideas starts by License File = "C:\EDS\I-DEAS10\ideas\mech\license.dat;" 'and' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
then the same thing for  C:\Documents  , but that can be fixed( read in another question on this forum) by changing the param file.
Then finaly is shut down with:

Also verified what "RCDLtd" said ...everything seem OK

Please help me
