This has to be my biggest pet peeve.  

I was taught that the correct usage is always Neither/Nor and not Neither/Or.

For example it should be written as "neither this nor that".  However I see "neither this or that" all the time.

Is this old-fashioned grammar?

If it's old fashioned, so am I. I say it is correct.

Buy a dictionary, keep it nearby and USE it. Webster's New World Dictionary of American English is recommended, and Webster's Collegiate Dictionary.

Just remember that the "N's" always go together.

Neither / Nor
Either / Or

But the real question is...
Do you pronounce it neether or nither, eether or ither?  (long e vs long i sound)
