Bolt types?

Bolt types?

Bolt types?

(OP)
Here's my problem: a thread posted in the bridge engineering forum mentions type N, type F, and type X bolts.

I'm missing something, what are type N, type F, and type X bolts?

Even making the assumption that these are referring to connection types this still doesn't jibe with the type F.  I cannot find a type F connection.

RE: Bolt types?

F-Friction Design (now called SC-Slip Critical)
X-Bearing Design, Threads excluded in shear plane.
N-Bearing Design, Threads included in shear plane.

RE: Bolt types?

Keep in mind those aren't types of bolts; they're types of connections, as I think someone might have said in another thread.
