Steam turbine installation

Steam turbine installation

Steam turbine installation

(OP)
I wonder if someone out there could help or point me in the right direction.

Where can I find installation times (unload, set, align, piping, electrical, testing, start-up etc.) for steam (750 psig) turbine/generator units in the 2MW to 5MW range.

I have a standard man-hour labor rate book (by J S Page) which tells me that 17,000 hrs is right for a 2MW unit and going up to 22,500 hrs for a 5MW unit but these hours seem horrendous to me. Perhaps they’re not; this is somewhat outside my bailiwick.

Thanks.

RE: Steam turbine installation

Accystan;

I don’t think you provide enough information to make a WAG as to installation times for these turbo generator sets. I have been in this business for over 20 years and never saw a reference that would tell you good figures on the time for a complete installation. It would be easier to judge specific times for each step such as unloading, setting, alignment, piping, electrical termination, testing and startup if more variables were known for each step. Other than that I would imagine this would be a determination made from previous experience.

If this were a simple matter of unloading, setting etc of a new turbo generator to replace a similar model than I would say that those figures of 17000 to 22500 do sound horrendous.

Kind Regards
